As we begin a new century, The Royal Oak Foundation and its allied organization The National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, are focusing not only on the past but also the future. |
The rich architectural heritage that is in the custody of the National Trust provides a gateway to an important part of architectural and design history. Knowledge and understanding of this heritage is crucial to the education of architects, landscape architects and designers. |
The Royal Oak Foundation's Competition in the Architectural Arts has three aims: |
First, to provide a means of incorporating the historical tradition as a fundamental part of the education of architects, landscape architects or designers. This integration of the past with the contemporary will provide a better understanding of architecture and design and their future roles. |
|
|
Third, to better acquaint the public with the history of architecture in general and specifically that in Great Britain, as well as the importance and value of The National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and The Royal Oak Foundation in the US. |
