    Circumnavigate Sicily on a cruise that National Geographic Traveler named one of its “Tours of a Lifetime.” Embark in Catania and sail through the volcanic Aeolian Islands to Palermo. Marvel at the Palatine Chapel’s glittering mosaics before driving to Monreale to tour its magnificent Norman cathedral. Discover splendid Greek ruins in Segesta and Agrigento, and in Pozzallo, admire the artful mosaics of the fourth-century Villa del Tellaro. In Syracuse, explore the well-preserved Greek and Roman theaters of the Archaeological Zone, and visit the baroque palazzo of Baron Beneventano for a tour and refreshments before disembarking in Valletta, Malta.             Kingstown St. Vincent

    History & Gardens of the Caribbean: Roundtrip Barbados Aboard Sea Cloud II

    January 15 – 22, 2015
    With its balmy island breezes and centuries-old tradition of gardening, the Caribbean is a delightful winter interlude to cooler northern temperatures. During a seven-night voyage aboard Sea Cloud II, step ashore to visit historic private plantations that have been lovingly restored by their owners. Tour botanical gardens of long standing, and relax on pristine beaches or swim in dazzling Caribbean waters. Aboard ship, attend lectures and enjoy leisurely hours of sailing.  From Barbados, cruise to Trinidad to visit Port of Spain’s Royal Botanic Gardens. Sip rum punch in St. George’s, Grenada, the “Spice Island.” Visit two important gardens in Kingstown, St. Vincent.  On St. Lucia, enjoy a swim at the white-sand Anse des Pitons beach, at the foot of the island’s twin peaks; and call at Bequia in the Grenadines for some seaside time or a hike to a turtle hatchery.                                 Mont St. Michel

    Garden Isles & Grand Estates: An English Channel Odyssey Aboard Sea Cloud II

    June 6 – 14, 2015
    Celebrate the rugged beauty of Normandy and the English coast while delving into military history on a one-week cruise that coincides with the anniversary of D-Day. Board Sea Cloud II in the fishing village of Honfleur, beloved by the Impressionists. In the Channel Islands, admire the walled garden of La Seigneurie on tiny Sark, or tour the house on Guernsey where Victor Hugo wrote Les Misérables. Tender ashore on Tresco in the Scilly Isles to discover the subtropical Abbey Gardens. Mont St. Michel and Agatha Christie’s home near Dartmouth are additional options, or you may choose an American cemetery visit and a walk on the beaches where U.S. troops practiced for the D-Day invasion. Before disembarking, visit the Isle of Wight to tour Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s favorite summer residence. A curator from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and two faculty members from Harvard University will accompany this voyage. An optional postlude in London features British historian Sir David Cannadine.
