2019 Benefit

The Royal Oak Foundation’s annual benefit took place on November 6, 2019 in New York City. This year, we were pleased to honor His Grace the Duke of Devonshire with our Timeless Award in recognition of his remarkable work in preservation and art collecting at his celebrated family residence, Chatsworth.

At the event, Royal Oak Board member Professor Sir David Cannadine will lead the Duke in a lively conversation about his impressive restoration and extraordinary art collection at one of Britain’s foremost historic and beloved private estates. There will also be an auction of priceless destinations and experiences.

The Timeless Award

The Duke of Devonshire

At this year’s annual benefit, the Royal Oak Foundation honored the Duke of Devonshire with the 2019 Timeless Award in recognition of his contributions to the preservation of British culture and the ten-year restoration of Chatsworth.

One of the great treasure houses of Britain, Chatsworth has been home to sixteen generations of the Cavendish family. The house is renowned for its architecture, gardens and art collection.

The art collection, one of the greatest in all of Britain, spans 4,000 years from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, to masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to work by outstanding modern artists, including Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.
