Zoom Tour | A Walk Through Dulwich Village
with Richard Watkins
October 26 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
With its wide grassy verges, fingerpost signs, half-timbered, medieval-like houses, and grand villas, Dulwich retains a character unlike anywhere else in London. On this virtual tour, Richard Watkins traces the area’s evolution from a rural manor into a thriving suburb shaped by prestigious schools, artistic ambition, and nineteenth-century expansion. Along the way, discover Dulwich’s rich architectural heritage. Notable residents included Charles Dickens, Camille Pissarro, and Ernest Shackleton. The town also features England’s first purpose-built public art gallery, London’s only surviving tollgated road, and the surprising inspiration for the iconic British telephone box.
