The Colourful Past: Edward Bulmer and the English Country House

Join Royal Oak at Rizzoli bookstore for an exciting talk and book signing by Edward Bulmer, one of Britain’s premier interior designers!

Bulmer works on historical houses, adapting them to contemporary family lifestyles, while at the same time respecting the classical traditions that have made the British country house style so popular today. He breathes new life into centuries-old houses with a sympathy that is rooted in a deep understanding of the past. Bulmer will illustrate his transformation of some of Britain’s grandest country houses—including Althorp, Goodwood, Boughton Hall and other private clients’ homes—into comfortable spaces designed for modern living. He will highlight his own stunning Queen Anne manor house, and explain how he has turned this country farmhouse, built in 1700, into a home that perfectly accommodates the needs of his family. We will also see how Bulmer embraces well-worn and timeless textures and compliments them with new color palettes and finishes using his line of toxic-free paints.
