Treasure from Chatsworth
Join Royal Oak for a rare chance to view objects from the legendary Chatsworth House Collection at Sotheby’s Auction House. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family.
One of the most important stately homes in the UK, the house is renowned for its artistic treasures which represent a grand tradition of collecting spanning 500 years.
Oxford Heritage Engagement Fellow, Oliver Cox, and one of the Chatsworth Collection curators will lead us on a tour of the 45 masterworks brought over from the Collection.
Among the treasures are works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt van Rijn and Lucien Freud, furniture and decorative objects from the 16th century to the present day, as well as exceptional jewels and historic documents.
